J-Rod’s Week 7 Section 9 Football Rankings

  1. Newburgh (6-1): Player of the Year candidate Terry Anderson pulled this off last week against Pine Bush: In less than two minutes, he had an interception, a rushing touchdown and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. How is my man Syncere Tatum going to top that?
  2. Cornwall (7-0): The Green Dragons haven’t seen this much competition in Class A in almost a decade, but the results remain the same.
  3. Marlboro (6-1): Center Matt Jackson is one of the most well-spoken and interesting players in Section 9. And he can block like nobody’s business.
  4. Monroe-Woodbury (5-2): MW’s Danny Abrahams one of many Section 9 WR’s having a breakout season.
  5. Goshen (6-1): Back-to-back history making wins for Goshen. First Spirit Trophy win since 2003 two weeks ago and first divisional title in 24 years this weekend.
  6. Minisink Valley (5-2): More Class A teams than Class AA schools in the top six. Class A is as deep as ever and Minisink Valley still has championship aspirations.
  7. Warwick (5-2): Already eyeing a rematch with Goshen in the Class A semifinals.
  8. Burke Catholic (5-2): RB Solomon Hemingway has had no problem being the man and is closing in on 1,000 yards rushing (782).
  9. Pine Bush (3-4): Whatever you do, don’t mention the words, Terry Anderson, turf, speed or Goldbacks around the Bushmen.
  10. Chester (6-1): Starting its preparations for Spackenkill in the Class C championship on November 3rd.
