J-Rod’s Week 6 Section 9 Power Rankings

  1. Cornwall (5-0): Cornwall averaging 46.2 points per game….and that’s with coach Mike Connolly calling off the first-team Green Dragons in most games.
  2. Newburgh (4-1): After missing one game, running back Jadon Munroe returned in a big way against Warwick last week, rushing for 181 yards and two touchdowns.
  3. MonroeWoodbury (4-1): Running back Bradley Byrnes, he of Section 9 Football Insider fame, returns this week for the BIG GAME against Newburgh. But we have to give his back-up, Curtis Foster, a pop for his big game against Middletown last week.
  4. New Paltz (5-0): Mike Pisciotta has stepped up nicely for New Paltz, putting up 140 yards and four touchdowns in win over Red Hook last week.
  5. Marlboro (50): Running back Billy Williamson apparently now goes by Bill, but one thing hasn’t changed. He still runs the ball with fury.
  6. Pine Bush (4-1): Survived Minisink Valley in OT last week and now faces a potential trap game: At Kingston on Saturday in a rare matinee for the Tigers at Dietz Stadium.
  7. Warwick (41): Coming off loss to Newburgh, the Cats’ are in for a scrap when they host Minisink Valley, a dangerous one-win team.
  8. Valley Central (3-2): Kicker Kevin Roberts developing into a weapon for the Vikings, booting a 43-yarder against Monticello last week.
  9. Burke Catholic (4-1): Quarterback Heath Hoovler’s six touchdowns against Tri-Valley was the second most in a game in Section 9 history.
  10. Washingtonville (2-3): Running back Brandon Politza with his biggest game of the season against Kingston last week: 127 yards and two touchdowns.
