J-Rod’s Week 5 Power Rankings

  1. Newburgh (3-1): Won’t bump Newburgh from the top spot after getting shutout by Jersey power River Dell Academy last week. The Goldbacks are still the best team in Section 9.

  2. Cornwall (4-0): Difficult and seemingly rigged schedule continues with powerful Monroe-Woodbury this week, but don’t expect Cornwall to complain.

  3. Minisink Valley (4-0): It’s rare that a defensive player is considered for Player of the Year, but defensive end Anton Juncaj has to be in the conversation. He was all over the place again in Goshen win.

  4. Monroe-Woodbury (3-1): Escaped from Middletown with a win last week, but exiting Cornwall with another ‘Dub’ should prove more difficult.

  5. Marlboro (3-1): Two-headed QB monster of Christian Diorio and Sam Mongelli working out well for streaking Iron Dukes.

  6. Pine Bush (2-2): A tale of two seasons (or two weeks). The Bushmen have won two in a row and held Washingtonville to 85 yards of offense last week.

  7. Warwick (3-1): Toughest stretch of the season for Wildcats: Cornwall and Minisink Valley back-to-back, followed by Goshen in the Spirit Trophy Game.

  8. Goshen (3-1): Proved a lot in loss to Minisink Valley and should remain in the think of the Class A race.

  9. Burke Catholic (3-1): You have to love that the Burke Catholic-Marlboro rivalry is back. The Eagles host Marlboro on Saturday.

  10. Chester (4-0): A three-year starter on defense, RB Mike Sannino making a name for himself on offense with 12 touchdowns.
