J-Rod’s Week 4 Power Rankings

  1. Newburgh (3-0): Hosts N.J. power River Dell Academy (3-0) on Friday. River Dell returns 14 starters from last year’s 11-1 season and has given up just 20 points this year.
  2. Cornwall (3-0): The seven-time defending Class A champs take on an eager challenger in confident Warwick on Friday.
  3. Minisink Valley (3-0): After dismantling Burke Catholic last week, the Warriors head back to Goshen for the second week in a row for a showdown with the Gladiators.
  4. Monroe-Woodbury (2-1): Jack Dembia doing a fine job in his new role as go-to receiver for the Crusaders. Cam Adams, Danny Abrams and Alex Jasohvili among other capable targets that the brothers Campione can connect with.
  5. Marlboro (2-1): Jack Young doing shutdown work in Marlboro’s secondary with three interceptions already this season. Iron Dukes’ ‘D’ has allowed just 9.3 points this season.
  6. Warwick (3-0): The Wildcats get the game that they have been salivating over for months: Cornwall, which has a gaudy 51-game winning streak against Section 9 Class A opponents.
  7. Pine Bush (1-2): The Bushmen woke up in a big way last week, hammering Valley Central, and knocking star QB Chandler Toth out of the game. Toth is expected to return this week against Kingston.
  8. Goshen (3-0): “Matty Ice” has certainly arrived, but Goshen faces by far its toughest test of season in Minisink Valley on Saturday.
  9. Burke Catholic (2-1): After last week’s game against Minisink Valley’s hard-charging defense, Burke Catholic QB Jackson Hoovler now knows how Eli Manning feels.
  10. Chester (3-0): Joe Battiato’s Bunch already has two wins over Class B schools and is looking like the class of Class C.

Honorable mention: Highland.
