J-Rod’s Week 3 Power Rankings

  1. Newburgh (2-0): The Goldbacks could be a top 10 team when the New York State Sportswriters Association Class AA rankings come out shortly.
  2. Cornwall (2-0): Twins Shane O’Dea (17 tackles) and Ryan O’Dea (15 tackles) make quite the impact on defense for the Green Dragons.
  3. Minisink Valley (2-0): Three-headed backfield of Sean Savacool, Connor Michael and Kevin O’Brien have been workmanlike and effective for the Warriors.
  4. Monroe-Woodbury (1-1): The Crusaders much talked about offensive line lived up to hype in the trenches in Pine Bush win and ‘D’ pitched shutout in second half.
  5. Marlboro (1-1): Iron Dukes not quite clicking on all cylinders yet, but the Iron Dukes will get there real soon and will be fun to watch.
  6. Warwick (2-0): Two gut check wins against AA teams Middletown and VC could serve the Wildcats well down the stretch.
  7. Pine Bush (0-2): In spurts, Pine Bush’s offense has looked like the yard-eating ground machine we all anticipated. However, the blocking hasn’t always been there, and now the PB season is on the brink.
  8. Burke Catholic (2-0): Third straight Class A opponent, Minisink Valley this week, might be too much wear and tear on Eagles. However, you won’t hear them complaining.
  9. Goshen (2-0): Could be off to hottest start since Bob Graham was roaming the sidelines in the 1990s and the man himself, Goshen favorite Gus Lawson, was a young up-and-comer in Scotchtown.
  10. Valley Central (1-1): Must beat Pine Bush on Friday to still be considered a potential Class AA player.
