Newburgh is top team in Section 9 Football Insider Preseason rankings

Section 9 Football Insider 2018 preseason rankings

  1. Newburgh: The Goldbacks open up the year in the top spot again which always stresses coach Bill Bianco out. He will now try to convince his team that they couldn’t beat a Pop Warner team to keep them level-headed.
Newburgh LB’s Derek Iorlano and Dom Valeri

  2. Pine Bush: Junior RB Chauncey Smith could become an integral part of Pine Bush’s yard-eating run game and don’t forget about stud transfer Robert Jackson, a defensive lineman.
  3. Monroe-Woodbury: Opens up the season against football factory Aquinas Institute of Rochester at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. M-W will be overmatched, in part, because it doesn’t have the benefit of recruiting players.
  4. Cornwall: Get ready to see a lot of Aidan and Amin this season as in quarterback Aidan Semo and running back Amin Woods. Challenging Cornwall schedule includes Monroe-Woodbury, Pine Bush, Marlboro and new Class A schools Minisink Valley and Warwick.
  5. Marlboro: Durable and do-it-all players Eric Borchert and Christian Diorio are my picks for breakout players on an already loaded team.
  6. Warwick: Star lacrosse player Kyle Rooney should make plays at running back for the Wildcats and he will have one of the best offensive linemen in Section 9, Andre Ward, blocking for him.
  7. Minisink Valley: The Warriors were the hard luck team of Section 9 last year, losing six games by an average of five points. But don’t go feeling bad for Minisink Valley. The Warriors will make an immediate impact in Section 9.
    Minisink Valley DL Anton Juncaj

  8. Valley Central: New starting WR’s Connor Fitzgibbons and Jaden Rose are going to have a lot of fun this season catching balls from Chandler Toth this season.
  9. Burke Catholic: Really like Burke Catholic’s DB/WR combo of Louie Usera and Rashad Hames. The Eagles soar from Class C to Class B this year.

  10. New Paltz and Goshen: This isn’t the last time that New Paltz and Goshen will be linked. The teams’ should battle for the Class A Division II title this year.
